I. Storm evolution
- At 10:00 on July 23, the center of the tropical depression was at about 18.1 degrees North latitude; 120.1 degrees East longitude, in the sea northwest of Lu Dong Island (Philippines). The strongest wind near the center of the tropical depression was level 6 (39-49km/h), gusting to level 8; moving in the West Southwest direction at a speed of about 15km/h.
- At noon on July 23, the tropical depression entered the sea east of the North East Sea. At 1:00 p.m., the center of the tropical depression was at about 18.0 degrees North latitude; 119.7 degrees East longitude, in the sea east of the North East Sea. The strongest wind near the center of the tropical depression was level 6-7 (39-61km/h), gusting to level 9; moving in the West Southwest direction at a speed of 10-15km/h.
- On the evening of July 23, the tropical depression strengthened into a storm (COMAY), becoming storm No. 04 in the East Sea. At 7:00 p.m., the center of the storm was at about 17.7 degrees North latitude; 118.9 degrees East longitude, in the eastern sea area of the North East Sea. The strongest wind near the center of the storm was at level 8 (62-74 km/h), gusting to level 10; moving in the West Southwest direction at a speed of about 15 km/h. - Early in the morning of July 25, storm No. 4 made landfall in the western area of Luzon Island (Philippines). At 4:00 a.m., the center of the storm was at about 16.8 degrees North latitude; 120.3 degrees East longitude, in the western area of Luzon Island (Philippines). The strongest wind near the center of the storm was at level 9-10 (75-102 km/h), gusting to level 12; moving northeast at a speed of about 10 km/h. - At 13:00 on July 25, the center of the storm was at about 19.8 degrees North latitude; 121.0 degrees East longitude, in the sea north of Luzon Island (Philippines). The strongest wind near the center of the storm was level 8-9 (62-88 km/h), gusting to level 11; moving northeast at a speed of about 20-25 km/h.
II. COMMAND AND RESPONSE WORK
- The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment issued Official Dispatch No. 4711/CD-BNNMT dated July 23, 2025 on responding to tropical depressions in the East Sea.
