In the framework of the project "Strengthening resilience to climate change impacts of vulnerable coastal communities in Vietnam" funded by the Green Climate Fund through UNDP, Disaster Prevention Policy and Technology Center have organized 02 training courses on community-based disaster risk management in Nghia Hai and Nam Dien communes of Nghia Hung district, Nam Dinh province from March 19-24.
Conference about National Disaster Prevention and Control Center

On the afternoon of February 25, Vietnam Disaster Management Authority organized a conference to discuss about the National Disaster Prevention and Control Center. The workshop was chaired by the Deputy Head of the Central Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention, General Director of Vietnam Disaster Management Authority Mr. Tran Quang Hoai. Attending the workshop were some functional units under the General Department of Disaster Prevention; Representative of the General Department of Meteorology and Hydrology; General Headquarter of Fisheries; General Department of Irrigation; World Bank and Workshop experts.

In recent years, disasters have become more complex and severe in Vietnam. Being aware of disaster consequences, a series of disaster prevention, response and recovery activities have been actively implemented from the national to local levels. However, among these activities, the psychological assistance to stabilize people's lives in disaster prone areas (prescribed in Clause 1, Article 30 of the Law on Natural Disaster Prevention and Control) is still being studied for application.

Within the framework of cooperation on applying space technology for disaster prevention, Water Resources Directorate (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) and United Nation Platform for Space-based Information for Disaster Management and Emergency Response (UN-SPIDER) jointly organized technical workshop on spatial data infrastructure and process of building disaster map for emergency response.
