Check the work of overcoming floods and landslides in Quang Ngai province

To direct the work of overcoming the aftermath of flash floods and landslides, the Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control sent a delegation of representatives from ministries: Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Construction, Natural Resources and The environment checked and worked with Quang Nam and Quang Ngai provinces from November 10-12.

The delegation was led by Mr. Vu Xuan Thanh, Deputy Chief of the Steering Committee Office, Deputy Director of General Department of Natural Disaster Prevention and Control.

On November 10, the delegation checked for landslide in Minh Long, Quang Ngai. Following 11-12 November, the delegation checked for landslide in Son Tay, Quang Ngai and Tra Leng, South Tra My, Quang Nam.

According to the provincial report, there are 03 points where landslides have occurred in Quang Ngai province (Son Tay: 02 points, Minh Long: 01 point), including: (1) Huy Duoi Residential Area, Ra Pan Village, Son Commune Long, Son Tay district: landslide injured 01 person, collapsed 01 house, damaged 01 house and threatened 47 households / 176 people in the area; (2) Hang Rin village, Mang He village, Son Bua commune, Son Tay district was hit by flash floods, landslides on November 1, 2020, swept away 06 houses, the risk of affecting 63 households / 252 people in area; (3) Go Tranh Gioi village, Long Son commune suffered from landslides, directly affecting 27 households / 106 people in the area. And there are 51 points at high risk of landslide (Ba To district: 15 points, Son Ha district: 07 points, Minh Long district: 01 point, Tra Bong: 27 points and Division BB307: 01 point).

To cope with flash floods and landslides, the province has promptly directed and organized the relocation and evacuation of households in areas at high risk of storms, floods, landslides, landslides to a safe place. . In which, in mountainous districts, the organization relocated and evacuated 2,381 households / 9,495 people located in areas prone to landslide to a safe place (Ba To district: 253 households / 885 people, Minh Long district: 136 households / 454 people, Tra Bong district: 777 households / 3,204 people, Son Ha district: 345 households / 1.54T8 people, Son Tay district: 870 households / 3,404 people).


“The locality has proposed the Central Steering Committee on Fire Prevention to consider submitting to the Government an emergency support for Quang Ngai province with 310 billion VND to invest in the resettlement area, the migration in the area has been eroded and at risk of landslide ; at the same time, to soon implement the project on the overall population relocation of areas at high risk of landslides and flash floods ”, suggested by the Steering Committee for Fire Prevention and Rescue in Quang Ngai province.


Mr. Vu Xuan Thanh, Deputy Director of General Department of Natural Disaster Prevention and Control said that the Quang Ngai province authorities promptly warned and moved people in areas prone to landslides to a safe and secure place in advance. All the lives for the people.

“Regarding the province's recommendation, from today's field inspection, we will have a basic assessment and advise to report to the Government. On this basis, in the coming time, there will be synchronous solutions from all contents to ensure safety and minimize damage ”, Mr. Thanh said.

Mr. Thanh also requested that, before the coming storm No. 13, Quang Ngai province continues to review and relocate households in dangerous areas to a safe place and ensure living conditions for people in places are avoided. resident.
