Construction of sea embankments, lakes and dams in Central: Reaching the finish line before the stormy season

10:39:42, 08/07/2021 Central provinces from Thanh Hoa to Binh Thuan are investing hundreds of billions of dong to complete sea embankments and dams. In the hot sun in many localities, construction crews worked day and night to complete the work before the rainy and stormy season.
In Xuan Hai sea (Song Cau town, Phu Yen province), Mrs. Nguyen Thi Thu (80 years old) stood on the edge of the wave and said: "In the past, our village was hundreds of meters from the beach, but gradually the waves destroyed the sea , took away many layers of houses and threatened hundreds of households. In recent years, I have heard about investing in sea embankments to break the waves, people are very happy, looking for stable weather, construction units have finished, people are quiet when the rainy season comes.

On the construction site of Xuan Hai sea embankment (phase 2), workers are mobilizing heavy-duty drill bits to drive concrete pillars to the sand bank to create embankments. In addition, other vehicles are hoisting and leveling the sand to create a separation from the sea surface in order to create a ground that is not contaminated with salt and protect the construction area. The atmosphere on the embankment route was quite urgent, the concrete barrier of about 45 billion VND began to form before the attention and monitoring of hundreds of Xuan Hai households.

The storms at the end of 2020 have caused a lot of land, protective forests, coastal houses in Phuoc Thien and An Cuong villages (Binh Hai coastal commune, Binh Son district, Quang Ngai province) to be eroded. , swept out to sea. In the midst of the stormy rain, hundreds of households live in a frenzy, leaving the luck of heaven and earth at their disposal. In the dry season of 2021, the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province has assigned the Project Management Board (PMU) of the provincial transport works as the priority investor to urgently implement the Phuoc Thien - An Cuong sea embankment route (1.3km), with capital is about 100 billion VND.

Leaders of Quang Binh Provincial People's Committee inspect the talus roof of Dong Vat reservoir, Quang Phuong commune, Quang Trach district, which is being repaired before the rainy season in 2021.

In parallel with the construction of sea embankments to protect the land, localities have also taken advantage of upgrading a series of reservoirs to increase water storage capacity, reduce floods in the rainy season, and increase the resilience of reservoirs and dams when floods return.

Mr. Doan Ngoc Lam determined: "Ensure the safety of the dam is good, people are assured, tens of thousands of people will not be threatened by the overloaded dam, minimizing damage in floods. Therefore, the review of dams in the dry season is very important.”
