During the prolonged rains, Mr. Hue's family had to gather important belongings to evacuate to a safe place. If the landslide persists, it is likely that the Bot Do market area will be flattened.


The risk of landslides in mountainous areas is very high.

“When it rains like a day, I'm not afraid, but it rains for 2 days and 3 days and I have to go somewhere else to live. I have a house in the nun, come and live with me. Rain for 2-3 days is afraid of water penetration, at night is very afraid, strong wind, heavy rain is determined to stay up at night, if there is anything to hear, just go, "he said.

The landslide situation in many hills and rivers in A Luoi district has become more serious after recent heavy rains, threatening people's lives and properties. Landslide risk points along National Highway 49A, section through Hong Ha, Huong Nguyen, Phu Vinh, Son Thuy communes, A Co pass area, along Ho Chi Minh road. 


Landslides occurred at Bot Do market, A Luoi district, Thua Thien Hue province. 

Many places with high risk of landslides in residential areas such as Tru Ky village, Hong Thuy commune, Bot Do area, Phu Vinh commune, A Luoi hydropower resettlement area and Hong Quang commune, affect the lives of nearby residents. 200 households.

Mr. Ho Van Ngum, Vice Chairman of A Luoi District People's Committee said that the situation of landslides is getting more and more complicated. To ensure the safety of the people, in the immediate future, A Luoi district focuses on propaganda and organizes the relocation of people to safe places when storms occur.

“Currently, A Luoi has four most dangerous places, in Hong Thuy, there are about 105 households in Tru Ky village, before the rainy season they move to a safe area. Bot Do Market, about 30 households. Recently, the Departments have surveyed and proposed to the province to level this hill, otherwise, if this place collapses, the whole Red Bot market will be leveled. Recently, the departments have proposed the province to set up a project," said Mr. Ngum.

In Thua Thien Hue province, dozens of landslide spots have appeared, most of which are in Nam Dong, A Luoi, Phu Loc, Phong Dien districts... Landslides and flash floods often occur in rivers and streams. mountainous areas, areas with slopes from 30 to 35 degrees. In addition, the coastal area also occurs coastal erosion with a length of more than 30km. Of which, more than 10km of heavy landslides occurred in Hai Duong commune, Hue city and the districts of Phong Dien, Quang Dien, Phu Vang and Phu Loc. 


Landslides occurred in many places in Thua Thien Hue province. 

The Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue of Thua Thien Hue province has warned locations at risk of landslides, rocks in mountainous areas, riverbank and coastal erosion in 9 districts, towns and cities. . On that basis, localities and units actively monitor, prevent and respond to natural disasters in this year's stormy season.

Nguyen Dinh Duc, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Thua Thien Hue province, said that in the immediate future, the province directs localities to review to have a plan to relocate and evacuate households in critical and dangerous areas. landslide to a safe place. In the long term, there will be a plan to relocate and resettle these households out of the landslide area.

“It is expected that this period will have heavy and concentrated rainfall, so if some areas such as Phu Loc, Nam Dong, Phong Dien districts... are at risk of landslides, the province has directed localities to have plans to move move households in that area out of the area at risk of landslides," Mr. Chuc said.
