Heavy rains in the North caused 6 deaths, hundreds of households had to be relocated

According to statistics of the Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, as of the morning of August 19, floods caused 6 deaths, including 2 in Vinh Phuc.Lao Cai, Son La, Lai Chau and Thai Nguyen provinces have one person in each province. Many provincial and inter-communal roads were landslide and badly damaged. Lai Chau hydropower reservoir has to discharge 5 surface discharge gates from 3pm on August 19 due to heavy floods.

The National Center for Hydrometeorological forecasting that from August 20 to August 22, the Northeast region had heavy to very heavy rain (popular 100-200 mm / time, some places over 250 mm / time) Heavy rain in the North and Northwest regions (popular 150 - 250 mm / time, some places over 300 mm / time), other areas in the North Delta and Thanh Hoa with moderate rain, some places with large rain (common 50 - 100 mm / time).

Therefore, the Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control suggested provinces in the Northern mountainous areas closely monitor changes in rain, flood, flash floods, landslides, proactively carry out rescue works. timely relocation of people to minimize the loss of life and property.
