Impact and damage caused by earthquakes in Son La and Thanh Hoa provinces

15:28:7, 13/08/2020 Up to 16:00 on July 27, an earthquake in Son La caused damage to the offices of the People's Committees of 3 communes, Moc Chau district; 127 houses of people were damaged.

At about 12:20 on July 27, an earthquake occurred in Son La province. Especially, in communes and towns in Moc Chau district, there are shaking phenomena caused by aftershocks of the earthquake.

According to the quick report of the Standing Office of the Steering Committee for natural disaster prevention and control and search and rescue in Son La province, as of 16 p.m. on July 27, the earthquake in Son La damaged the headquarters of the People's Committee of 3 communes, Moc Chau district.

In which, the office of Na Muong commune sunk, cracked walls, broken many plaques, ceilings and broken neck sections of the office; Ta Lai commune office has subsidence, wall cracks, at the same time short and explosion a number of electrical systems in the head office and currently the power system is not stable; Long Sap commune office was cracked at a bare neck.

The impact of the earthquake in Son La also caused Tam Pha Village Cultural House (Tan Hop commune) and Thang 5 village culture house (Ta Lai commune), both in Moc Chau district collapsed, plastic ceiling, wall cracked; making medical stations in Ta Lai and Quy Huong communes (Moc Chau district) subsidence, cracked walls; The kindergarten in Tam Pha village, Tan Hop commune is cracked.

In addition, the Son La earthquake caused 127 houses of people to sink, crack walls, break tiles, and collapsed plastic ceilings; in which, Moc Chau district suffered heavy damage with 126 houses.

In Thanh Hoa, people in the city and some neighboring districts in Thanh Hoa province said that at about 12 o'clock on July 27, they felt their house was shaking caused by the aftershocks of the earthquake in Son La province).

Especially, in some high-rise apartment buildings in Thanh Hoa city such as Tecco (Dong Ve ward); Xuan Mai (Dong Hai ward); Phu Son apartment building (Phu Son ward), people clearly feel the shake and share a lot on Facebook's social network.

Mr. Hoang Ha Giang, a resident of Tecco apartment, said: When my family is eating lunch, seeing the ceiling fans and other appliances wobbling, I feel dizzy and light-headed.

It happened for about 30 seconds, then returned to normal. Although the incident only happened for a short time, however, seeing it for the first time, he and his family could not help but worry.

Mr. Truong Cong Thang, Dong Ve ward, Thanh Hoa city said: The time of the incident happened at noon, when everyone was resting, so the vibration was felt very clearly.

Not only him, but many people and friends felt and worried about not knowing what was going on.

Go to the internet and see, the shake is caused by aftershocks of an earthquake of magnitude 5.3 occurring in the area of Son La and Thanh Hoa provinces with only slight residual conditions, so it is somewhat reassuring ...

Currently, Center for Earthquake Alert and Tsunami Warning, Institute of Geophysics continues to closely monitor the progress of the earthquake./.
