Northwestern localities suffer big loss due to floods

9:10:5, 26/07/2018 According to the Central Steering Committee on Flood and Storm Prevention, as of 17h00 on June 25th, floods caused by torrential rain in northwestern localities, including Ha Giang, Lai Chau and Lao Cai, claimed the lives of 14 people and left 11 others missing.
Nearly 70 houses were swept away, over 1,000 others were inundated and destroyed; and 735 hectares of crops were ruined, causing a total loss of over VND160 billion.
Torrential rain started on June 22nd, causing high water in rivers and flooding Ha Giang city.

People in Ha Giang city have to use boats to travel.

The road from Sin Ho town to Hoang Ho village in Sin Ho district, Lai Chau province, is seriously flooded, with a large area of crops destroyed.

The flood from upper reaches overflows stone exploitation area in Lai Chau province.

Serious flood goes through a national road linking Lao Cai and Lai Chau provinces.

Sturgeon die during the flood, and breeders have to destroy them.

High level on Lo river, at 101 meters on June 24th, nearly 1 meter higher than the second-level alarm.
