The Prime Minister inspected to response to saltwater intrusion in Mekong Delta

11:8:9, 30/06/2016 Up to now, the situation of saltwater intrusion taking place the most seriours in the area of Mekong Delta. Forecast of salinization continued fierce especially in March and April, causing damage to production, fresh water shortages on a large scale.



 On April 12th, Prime Minister has issued Directive No. 09/CT-TTg on the implementation of urgent measures to respond to saltwater intrusion in the Mekong Delta.

The Prime Minister asked ministries, sectors, local authorities: close monitoring the weather changes, implementing urgent measures to ensure the supply of fresh water for daily life and production of the people, especially the poor, policy households, ethnic minorities; accelerating the construction of irrigation works to actively respond to climate change, drought, saltwater intrusion, coastal erosion prevention. At the same time, stepping up propaganda to change the perception of people, actively use water economically and efficiently.
