Warning of heavy rain in the Huong River basin causing risk of flash floods, landslides, and inundation

9:32:12, 30/10/2023 According to forecasts, from October 30 to November 2, the Huong River basin (TT-Hue province) will have moderate rain, heavy to very heavy rain, with a common rainfall of 150-300mm/time, in some places. over 400mm/episode, causing flash floods, landslides, and flooding.

On October 29, the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control of TT-Hue province issued an urgent document to localities, units, and dam owners in the area on proactively responding to heavy rain in the coming days.
According to the forecast of the Central Hydro-Meteorological Station, from October 30 to November 2, the Huong River basin will have moderate rain, heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorms, with a common rainfall of 150 -300mm/batch, some places over 400mm/batch. Localities need to take precautions against thunderstorms, lightning, strong winds, flash floods, landslides, and urban flooding.


Ta Trach Lake upstream of the Huong River increases water discharge to create storage capacity and proactively prevent floods.

To proactively respond to bad weather developments, the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control of Thua Thien Hue province requires localities, units, and dam owners to closely monitor weather developments and promptly inform people to take control. implementing response measures.
Inspect, review and update the approved flood response plan. Direct police forces at points at risk of floods, flash floods, landslides, and inundations; guard and guide underground and spillways when floods occur and strictly prohibit people from going into the forest or rivers to collect firewood during floods.
Irrigation and hydroelectric reservoir project owners are on duty to monitor and strictly implement approved operating procedures to ensure project safety and downstream safety.
The investor directs contractors carrying out construction works to check work to ensure safety for people, vehicles and construction materials. Arrange signs and instructions to ensure safety for people and vehicles passing through the unfinished construction site area, clear the flow to prevent local flooding.
Previously, on October 27, the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control of TT-Hue province issued a document directing the owners of Ta Trach irrigation reservoir, Binh Dien hydroelectric reservoir (upstream of Huong River), and Huong Dien hydroelectric reservoir ( Bo River) adjusted to increase the operating flow of hydroelectric and irrigation reservoirs to lower the lake water level, increase flood prevention capacity, and proactively welcome the continued rains from late October to early November in the area. provincial table.
